Every day someone disappears from our neighborhood. Sometimes they forget to comeback where they lived. Or, they don’t want to return home; maybe they wanted to try something new; or somebody decided that they were not necessary anymore. Or they could be exchanged for something else… ¿who knows? They have disappeared.
Square for Disappear People 2007, is a proposal in which the artist analyze the idea of the roll of society in relation with missing people. The work makes coexist the notion of physical disappearance - no matter if it is for their own or obliged decision, for mortality or any other event - with daily life activities that still form a part of this society.
This art project is conceived to be in Public space, ideally to be produced in a plaza of a big city. Where three-hundred-sixty-five black chairs will be layout; every chair will be carved with a date corresponding to one day of the year (from the 1st of January up to 31st of December), since each one remembers the day in which an anonymous had disappeared in some place of the world.
